Week 10 Day 4

Today was the long run for this week - 17 miles. By measurement, two laps and two miles extra for a total of 16.8mi. The map said Lake Zorinsky but the weather and feel screamed English countryside. I can't say that it was great weather today - upper 30s and misting with a north/northeast breeze. However, it certainly beats 10F and a stiff north wind. The first lap was okay - I did it in 72min. The second lap was a bit more difficult but I wasn't dying.

I got some PowerBar, Gu-type stuff for this run, just to see if it worked out better than the clif shot bloks and i was much happier. Less chewy (of course) but overall just plain old less fuss than the bloks. AND it took less Gatorade to wash it down.

I'm pretty happy with my time. I will need to run 20sec/mi faster to meet my goal time of 4hrs. Thinking about my time, I'm really starting to get a sense of what it will take to accomplish this. I think 4hrs is doable, but it will be close. I'm really looking forward to a little rest tonight.
